Late Monday evening, the planet of action Mars enters Taurus and invites us all to settle down for a long journey. Over the next six weeks, don’t be discouraged. Victories won’t come quickly, but through perseverance and the will to keep going, no matter how long it takes. Amazing change becomes possible not through miracles or luck, but rather through the slow, transformative magic of perseverance. Later Monday evening, the communication planet Mercury enters intuitive Cancer, where it will remain for the next two weeks. As you try to make sense of the world during this time, logic and grand theories may fail, but you can find clarity in emotions and the warm light of your relationships with others.

You have enough optimism to hope that people can change – that those who have always ignored your feelings will finally see how wrong they were, that those who hurt you will make amends. While believing in people’s ability to grow is beautiful and generous, it can also make your heart skip a beat. This week, give yourself permission to stop waiting for people who have never been by your side. It is not an act of desperation. In fact, it is a matter of faith that in doing so you are making room for people who will welcome you with solidarity and open arms.

There’s a part of you that apologizes for the smallest of pleasures these days. It’s not that you believe self-denial is virtuous or that you don’t deserve it, only that it seems unfair to experience happiness when so much around us is falling apart. Consciously or not, you may be trying to balance the scales and lessen your guilt by avoiding comfort, stubbornly turning away from invitations to play. What the world needs now is not less fun, but more. It’s good to have fun when you can, to fill your cup, to create more beauty and benevolence in a universe that really needs it.

When you are honest with yourself about how much change is needed, about what quality of life could be better – whether in your life, your community, or the world at large – you may feel like you don’t have much to contribute. Your dreams are big, but your resources are limited. You are just one person and your life is filled with ordinary necessities such as sleeping, eating, and going to work. The key this week is not to be ashamed of not doing “more”. Every day you have the power to do something good, no matter how small. And all those little actions will add up, if you let them.

Despite the disappointments you have experienced in recent years, despite the many injustices you have witnessed, a small part of you has held out hope that if the situation really got dark enough, those in authority would finally step in and help. But now even that illusion has been shattered. There is heartache and anger this week remembering that there are powerful people who could fight for you but won’t. Instead of that old hope, you’ll find a new resolve – and an understanding that when no one else steps in, you can still fight for your community, and they will fight for you too.

Even the deepest grief is easier to bear when you know you are not alone. The most agonizing anxiety about the future diminishes when you know you will have friends by your side to face it. You can’t fix the whole world, but you box Make things better this week by creating a community. Forge new relationships, mend relationships that have frayed. Commit to making each other’s lives a little sweeter today. love is not everything it counts, but we can’t do without it.

You know that – in theory, at least – things could be different: there is no inherent reason why society cannot be freer, more generous, less violent, no cosmic blueprint that says we cannot can’t choose another way to live. In practice, however, it is easy to convince oneself that these alternatives only exist in the realm of imagination, not reality. This week you’ll discover that you don’t have to just dream – you can also act as if a better world is possible. And each time you choose to break with unfair or restrictive norms, you lay the groundwork for the new existence you aspire to.

This week, you may be worried that you’ve suddenly become invisible. No one pays attention to your pointed observations and helpful insights or notices the vital contributions you continually make to your community. You can raise your voice, demand to be seen, but you also have other options. Consider the benefits of doing your job for itself, at least for a while. It’s an opportunity to take big steps forward without the pressure of other people’s expectations or the dangers of overexposure. Trust that eventually you will be recognized in the way you desire.

You are a strategic thinker by nature – adept at reading a play, planning a few steps ahead, and maneuvering through the trickiest of issues. But there are circumstances in life that call for simple, stubborn determination instead. This type of action probably feels less rewarding to you, but that doesn’t make it any less important. This week, the important thing is just to hang on. Go on and stay attached to your humanity, to your people, to your principles. You don’t have to be smart or analyze your way through this. For now, just keep showing up.

You have the capacity for incredible bravery. You can take beautiful and amazing risks for the good of others in order to do the right thing in the face of resistance or even danger. However, to realize your full potential here, you need to practice. Courage is like a muscle: it atrophies if you never use it. So this week your task is to heal your nerve and keep it fit. Every little chance you take, every time you put yourself out there, ensures that you’ll stay strong, principled, and ready to act when the world calls on you to do more.

Right now it’s tempting to bury yourself in work. Whether paid or volunteer, the goal is the same: fill her days so she doesn’t have time to simmer in panic or uncertainty or painful emotions. And there is something to be said for channeling your feelings into useful and concrete actions. This week, it’s important not to over-commit. Taking on too many obligations puts you on the road to burnout, which won’t help Where someone else. Action is necessary, but make sure it’s at a sustainable pace.

When you consider the ongoing disaster we are going through, you see no room, no justification, to be anything other than heroic. You yearn for a special sense of purpose, for grand gestures and actions; it is almost unbearable to continue to get tangled up in the daily banalities of life. But this week, what the world expects of you is not for you to pursue something “better” than the life of an ordinary person. On the contrary, everyday life is your great mission at this time. It is important to understand how to live alongside others with courage and love in defiance of greed and cruelty.

You’ve been stressed and unsure of your place in the world lately, and it’s only gotten worse many people – probably in your life as well as on social media and the news – working to convince you that you are impotent. They say all you can do is wait to ask for rescue, that the wisest course of action is to politely ask for better treatment. But they’re wrong, of course, and it’s your job this week to remember that. You don’t need permission to care for your community and improve the lives of others. You already have all the power you need.
